There are several types of authorization, including visas and ESTAs for \nFrench nationals. But which one is best suited to your\n project? In this article, we explain the differences between \nthe two documents, whether in terms of obtaining them, their purpose or \nthe opportunities they offer you.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ESTA, much simpler than a visa<\/h2>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/en\/what-are-the-rules-for-obtaining-esta\/\">The rules for obtaining<\/a> the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/en\/\">official ESTA<\/a> are controlled and reinforced by an online questionnaire that every applicant must answer. If you don&#8217;t meet the criteria below, you should refer to the next section on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/en\/main-visas-for-the-united-states\/\">US visas<\/a>. Indeed, you have no chance of receiving ESTA authorization if your trip does not correspond to ALL the points mentioned:  <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>stays of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/en\/esta-valid-for-90-days-in-the-united-states\/\">up to 90 consecutive days<\/a>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>tourist, business or transit stay ;  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>you have no criminal record, mental disorder or contagious disease and have not traveled to a country incompatible with the USA since March 1, 2011;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>your passport is biometric or electronic, and valid until the end of your trip;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>you are a national of a Visa Waiver Program country, and do not hold dual Iraqi, Syrian, Sudanese or Iranian nationality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>If all these requirements are met, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/fr\/le-formulaire-esta-pour-les-usa-a-completer\/\">complete the ESTA form<\/a> available on the Internet. Please understand, however, that approval is not guaranteed. The main advantage of ESTA is its accessibility, both in terms of time and cost. The form is filled in quickly, and you receive a reply in PDF format within 72 hours (usually the same day). Our advice: print out the form to avoid any complications at the border, even if you don&#8217;t have to.    <\/p>\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re planning to work in the U.S., do an internship, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/fr\/comment-etudier-dans-une-universite-americaine\/\">study at an American university<\/a> or expatriate, don&#8217;t waste time ordering an ESTA: go straight for a visa.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The visa is more specific than ESTA<\/h2>\n\n<p>Unlike the ESTA, which covers a wide range of reasons for travel, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/fr\/quelle-est-la-duree-de-validite-dun-visa-usa\/\">U.S. visa<\/a> is made up of multiple documents specific to each situation. The recent creation of ESTA has eased the burden on visa processing departments. ESTA is intended for foreign nationals who are not covered by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/fr\/a-propos-du-visa-waiver-program\/\">Visa Waiver Program<\/a>, or who do not meet the above-mentioned criteria.  <\/p>\n\n<p>This authorization is more costly and time-consuming than the first. For example, you have to go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/en\/going-to-the-us-embassy-for-a-visa\/\">U.S. consulate or embassy<\/a> (in Paris) to undergo a decisive interview, and prove that you have sufficient financial means to live on U.S. territory. Don&#8217;t forget to plan ahead, as the ESTA&#8217;s 72 hours are out of the question. It may take several weeks or even months.   <\/p>\n\n<p>Each reason has its corresponding visa:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>business: B1 visa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>tourism: B2 visa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>internship: H3 visa  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>studies: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/fr\/demande-de-visa-f1-pour-les-usa\/\">F1 visa<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>temporary employment: H2A visa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>specialized employment: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/en\/the-h1b-visa-for-working-in-the-usa\/\">H1B visa<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>company management: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/fr\/comment-faire-pour-investir-aux-etats-unis-avec-le-visa-e1-e2\/\">E1 visa<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>investing in a company: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/fr\/comment-faire-pour-investir-aux-etats-unis-avec-le-visa-e1-e2\/\">E2 visa<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>transfer of manager, executive, specialized employee: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/en\/l1-visa-for-executive-transfer-to-usa\/\">L1 visa<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>exchange program: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/en\/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-j-visa\/\">J1 visa<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>top artists, athletes and scientists: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/en\/o-and-p-visas-for-athletes-or-artists\/\">O and P visas<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esta-officiel-usa.com\/en\/american-visas-to-enter-the-usa\/\">The list of US visas<\/a> is very long, so choose your visa carefully before applying.
