WHEN TO FILL IN THE ESTA FORM

The ESTA form is intended for nationals of countries that are members of the Visa Waiver Program.

It was created to enable non-American citizens to travel to the USA, without having to go through the long and costly process of obtaining a green card or USA visa.

Filling out the ESTA form also offers the advantage of being able to make multiple visits to the U.S. during the two-year validity of the authorization, and to be able to renew the authorization once it has expired.

To be valid, the request must be made no later than 72 hours before departure, as a request may be put on hold. After this deadline, you run the risk of not receiving your document in time, and therefore of having to modify your stay.

HOW TO FILL IN AN ESTA FORM

By going to the official website, you can access an ESTA USA form to fill in. Translated into French, several fields must be completed:

• the first part deals with the traveler’s identity;
• the second part concerns your stay and passport details;
• the third part includes yes/no questions on the following topics: your health, your relationship with the law and your past travels.

Once you have completed the questionnaire, you will be asked to tick a final box to confirm that you have understood the form and agree to the conditions for obtaining authorization.

You’ll receive your document directly in your mailbox the same day, or within 72 hours at the latest.
