TRAVEL TO CUBA FROM THE USA!
Are you planning a trip to the USA with ESTA authorization and have a few days to spare? Take a detour to the island of Cuba – you won’t regret it! Surrounded by heavenly beaches, this long country is taking advantage of better relations with the USA than in the past to open up to the world. Whether it’s its people, its landscapes or its architecture, you’ll find a thousand and one reasons to appreciate this pearl of the Caribbean.
CUBA: NOT TO BE MISSED
It’s impossible to get bored in Cuba, with so many places to visit, streets to wander and reefs to explore. As proof, 4 million tourists visited the island in 2016 (which corresponds to more than 1/3 of the local population!). If you don’t like crowds, think carefully about the time of year you plan to stay.
As Cuba’s capital city, Havana’s historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is due to its abundant vegetation and majestic buildings. The city also stands out for the low number of buildings, which preserves its authenticity but also reflects its lack of modernity, leading to the dilapidation of certain districts.
Choose a bed and breakfast to experience total immersion, and keep an eye out for the many references to Cuba’s emblematic figures, Che Guevara and Fidel Castro.
When it comes to local cuisine, try the black bean rice, accompanied by a Cuba libre, of course!
For the ultimate in scuba diving experience, pick up your flippers and snorkel. Cuba’s waters are splendid, as are its beaches for those who prefer to stay on shore. The coral reefs are among the longest on the planet, making this the perfect opportunity to take a dip and discover the surrounding ocean flora and fauna.
And that’s not all: take advantage of your trip to visit a cigar factory, as cigars are an integral part of the country’s heritage. You’ll learn all about the production stages, techniques and processes (growing, drying, rolling…) that go into making a quality product. You can also buy some at a lower price than in France, of course!
GOING OUT IN CUBA
After a busy day diving, strolling around town or hiking in the abundant nature, it’s time to party. And there’s no better way to do so than in a club or dance bar. Do you like salsa? So much the better, you can dance to the sound of music blending percussion and guitars. There’s no shortage of discotheques, especially in Havana.
To enjoy your vacation in Cuba, there’s just one thing to do: order your official ESTA. This authorization gives you access to the United States, the best transit option for your onward journey to the Caribbean island. How do you obtain this document? Simply fill in an online form, which asks a number of questions about your identity and your plans for the USA (tourism, business…). Once issued, the$14 ESTA allows you to travel freely within the U.S. for 90 days.
